Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island with strong opportunities in cloud computing, cybersecurity, software engineering, finance technology, aerospace, logistics, healthcare and advanced manufacturing. English is widely used at work, and the multicultural environment includes Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities. Life is convenient, safe and highly urbanised, with excellent public transport, reliable services, shopping, hawker food and abundant parks. Housing is the largest expense; renting a room or shared apartment is usually more affordable than renting an entire private unit. Employment Pass or S Pass eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and employer sponsorship, while short-term visitors cannot work. New hires should confirm the work-pass process before relocating. Prepare for a hot, humid climate, arrange health insurance, and budget for deposits, transport and daily living costs. Singapore’s central location also makes travel around Southeast Asia easy.
