Destination Guide

Australia offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, marketing, events and resort operations, particularly in Queensland, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and regional tourist destinations. Port Douglas has a relaxed, multicultural tourism culture, with work centred on resorts, restaurants, reef excursions, nature experiences and seasonal travel demand. Lifestyle highlights include warm weather, beaches, outdoor activities, the Great Barrier Reef and the nearby Daintree Rainforest, although living costs and rental availability can be challenging. International applicants generally need a suitable work visa, such as a Working Holiday visa, employer-sponsored visa or another skilled pathway; eligibility depends on nationality, occupation and experience. Relocation usually requires arranging flights, accommodation, tax registration, banking, healthcare cover and transport. Port Douglas is smaller and more seasonal than major cities, so securing housing and transport before arrival is advisable.
