Destination Guide

Labuan Bajo is a growing tourism center on Flores, Indonesia, best known as the gateway to Komodo National Park. Hotel, restaurant, housekeeping, spa, guiding, marine tourism, and transport jobs are common, with additional opportunities in construction and local services. Life is generally relaxed and community-oriented, although tourism work can involve long hours and seasonal demand. The culture blends Manggarai traditions, Indonesian hospitality, religious diversity, local markets, and strong connections to the sea. Residents enjoy beaches, diving, island trips, sunsets, and hiking, but should expect a smaller-town lifestyle and higher prices for some imported goods. Foreign workers normally need employer sponsorship and the correct Indonesian work permit and limited-stay visa before starting employment. Candidates should confirm accommodation, flights, insurance, taxes, and work authorization with the employer. Flores is warm year-round, with a wetter season and limited direct transport compared with Bali.
