Job Description

The Chief Steward leads the stewarding team and maintains cleanliness, hygiene and efficient operation of all kitchen, back-of-house and service areas. Requirements typically include previous experience as a Chief Steward, Stewarding Supervisor or senior kitchen steward, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort. The candidate should understand food-safety standards, sanitation procedures, chemical handling, waste management and safe operation of dishwashing equipment. Strong leadership, organization and communication skills are expected, along with the ability to train staff, prepare duty schedules, control supplies and coordinate effectively with chefs and other departments. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays, physical stamina, attention to detail and a professional hospitality attitude are essential.
