Destination Guide

Taiwan offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, technology, education, and international business, especially in Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung. Hospitality professionals can benefit from a growing food-and-travel market, though Mandarin is helpful for daily life and local kitchen communication. Taiwanese culture values politeness, reliability, family, and respect for workplace relationships. Lifestyle is convenient and relatively affordable, with excellent public transport, night markets, mountains, beaches, hot springs, and outstanding food. Taiwan has a subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and occasional typhoons. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit, followed by an Alien Resident Certificate. Applicants should confirm eligibility, medical requirements, tax treatment, accommodation, and relocation support with the employer. Renting in Taipei can be expensive, while nearby districts may offer better value. Health insurance enrollment is generally arranged through employment after legal registration.
