Destination Guide

Phuket is Thailand’s largest island and a major tourism and hospitality center, offering jobs in hotels, restaurants, bars, spas, tours, diving, retail, transport, and events. Mai Khao is quieter and more residential than Patong, while Phuket Town provides local food, markets, cultural attractions, and better everyday services. Life is warm, social, and outdoors-oriented, with beaches, island trips, water sports, and a relaxed tropical pace, although high-season work can be demanding. Thai culture values politeness, respect, modesty, and maintaining a calm manner. Foreign employees generally need a job offer, a Thai work permit, and an appropriate visa, usually arranged with employer support. Thai nationals have simpler employment access. New arrivals should budget for deposits, transport, healthcare, and seasonal rental increases, and confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, meals, and relocation assistance before accepting an offer.
