Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak, especially in hotels, resorts, restaurants, catering and tourism. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest employment market, modern facilities and excellent international dining, while island destinations such as Langkawi and parts of Sabah offer a slower resort lifestyle, beaches and outdoor activities. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences reflected in food, festivals and daily life. Living costs are generally moderate, although central Kuala Lumpur and resort islands can be more expensive. Employers normally arrange or sponsor the appropriate Employment Pass for foreign professionals; applicants should not work on a tourist entry pass. Relocating candidates should confirm sponsorship, medical checks, contract terms, accommodation, insurance and tax arrangements before accepting an offer. English is widely used in hotels, while Malay is the national language.
