Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in investment banking, credit, asset management, fintech, professional services, technology, logistics and multinational corporate functions. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and English is widely used in business, although Cantonese is valuable for daily life and local relationships. The lifestyle is energetic, safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse dining, coastal areas, hiking trails and dense urban neighborhoods. Housing can be expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in central districts; Kowloon and the New Territories may offer better value. Overseas professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by an eligible employer, with approval based on qualifications, salary and the availability of a genuine role. Employers often assist with visa applications and relocation. New arrivals should arrange housing, health coverage, banking and tax registration promptly.
