Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in investment banking, asset management, fintech, insurance, trading, professional services, technology and multinational corporate functions. Its culture combines Cantonese and broader Chinese traditions with an international business environment; English is widely used professionally, while Cantonese is valuable for local roles. Lifestyle is fast-paced, highly connected and urban, with excellent public transport, diverse dining, hiking, beaches and vibrant cultural districts. Eligible professionals generally require an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong company, with approval depending on qualifications, experience, salary and the role’s business need. Employers commonly assist with sponsorship and relocation, although housing is expensive and apartments can be compact. The city is well connected to mainland China and the rest of Asia, making it particularly attractive for regional careers.
