Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in banking, asset management, fintech, insurance, professional services, technology, and trade. The culture is international but strongly influenced by Cantonese and Chinese traditions; English is widely used in business, while Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable locally. Life is fast-paced, highly connected, and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse restaurants, shopping, beaches, hiking trails, and compact urban neighborhoods. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, so many professionals consider Kowloon or the New Territories. Foreign employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by a hiring company, with approval depending on qualifications, salary, and the role’s business need. Dependants may usually apply for dependant visas. Before relocating, candidates should confirm tax, healthcare, schooling, housing, and visa arrangements with the employer.
