Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied career opportunities across technology, e-commerce, fintech, logistics, tourism, manufacturing, and consumer goods. Java, especially Jakarta, is the main business hub and offers the broadest range of professional roles, although traffic and living costs are high. Bali has a strong tourism, hospitality, creative, and digital-nomad culture, while Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan offer opportunities in resources, agriculture, logistics, and regional commerce. Indonesian culture emphasizes community, respect, hospitality, and religious diversity. Lifestyle ranges from busy metropolitan living to quieter coastal and island communities, with generally affordable food and services outside central Jakarta and Bali. Foreign employees usually need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work visa and work permit; tourist visas do not authorize employment. Before relocating, confirm salary, tax, healthcare, housing, and relocation support, and check current immigration rules. Learning basic Indonesian is highly valuable for work and daily life.
