Destination Guide

Indonesia offers strong opportunities in technology, fintech, e-commerce, logistics, tourism, shared mobility, finance and customer operations, particularly in Java and Bali. Jakarta, on Java, is the main corporate and technology hub and offers the widest range of professional roles, though traffic and living costs are high. Bali has a relaxed lifestyle, international communities and tourism-related work, but fewer corporate opportunities and stricter employment rules. Other islands, including Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi, provide opportunities in resources, manufacturing, agriculture and regional services. Indonesian culture values hospitality, family, community and respectful communication; modest dress and sensitivity to religious customs are important. Costs vary greatly, while food and local transport can be affordable. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship, a work authorization and the appropriate limited-stay visa or KITAS before working. Confirm current immigration requirements, health insurance, housing and tax obligations before relocating.
