Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities in technology, e-commerce, logistics, tourism, finance, education, manufacturing, and renewable energy. Jakarta, on Java, is the main corporate and technology hub, while Bali has strong tourism, hospitality, creative, and remote-work communities. Other growing centres include Bandung, Surabaya, Medan, and Makassar. Indonesian culture values hospitality, respect for hierarchy, community, and relationship-building; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly beneficial. Lifestyle varies from busy metropolitan living to quieter coastal or island communities, with generally affordable food and services, though Jakarta and Bali can be expensive in popular areas. Foreign nationals usually need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, and cannot legally work on a tourist visa. Relocation planning should cover immigration, tax registration, healthcare, housing, and local employment rules.
