Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with varied opportunities across its major islands. Java, especially Jakarta, has the strongest technology, finance, startup, logistics, and corporate job market; Bandung and Yogyakarta offer growing software and creative sectors. Bali provides opportunities in tourism, hospitality, digital services, and remote work, while Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi have expanding roles in logistics, energy, agriculture, mining, and regional commerce. Indonesian culture values hospitality, family, community, and respect for hierarchy, with considerable regional diversity. Lifestyle ranges from busy metropolitan living in Jakarta to slower coastal or island communities. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work visa or limited-stay permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocation planning should cover housing, healthcare, taxation, local registration, transport, and language. Jakarta offers the broadest professional network but has traffic and higher living costs.
