Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with varied opportunities across Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Batam, and Bali. Jakarta and nearby industrial areas offer the widest choice of construction, engineering, data-center, manufacturing, and corporate jobs. Batam is important for industrial, logistics, and technology-related development, while Bali is more focused on tourism and hospitality. Indonesian workplace culture generally values respect, teamwork, hierarchy, and relationship building; English is common on international projects, but basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful. Living costs vary greatly: Jakarta and Bali are relatively expensive, while many regional cities are more affordable. Foreign professionals normally need employer sponsorship, a work-related visa and stay permit, and approval to work legally; requirements can change, so confirmation with the employer and Indonesian immigration authorities is essential. Relocation planning should include housing, healthcare, transport, insurance, taxation, and family arrangements. The climate is tropical, with wet and dry seasons, and commuting can be challenging in major cities.
