The Care Assistant supports people with personal care, daily living activities, mobility, nutrition and medication, while promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing. Duties may take place in clients’ homes or care settings and can include companionship, light household tasks, record-keeping and reporting changes in condition. Candidates should be compassionate, dependable, respectful and confident communicating with service users, families and colleagues. Previous care experience is helpful but may not be essential, as training is commonly provided. Applicants generally need the right to work in the UK, satisfactory references, enhanced DBS clearance and, for community roles, a suitable driving licence and reliable transport.
