Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with opportunities in aviation, finance, technology, logistics, healthcare, hospitality and professional services. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its languages, festivals and excellent food culture. Life is generally safe, efficient and convenient, with reliable public transport, modern healthcare and extensive shopping and dining options. Housing, especially near central areas, can be expensive, although suburbs offer more affordable choices. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and current government criteria. New arrivals should arrange a valid pass before starting work, secure accommodation, and budget for rent, transport, insurance and daily expenses. Singapore's tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
