Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in banking, shared services, technology, finance, operations, healthcare, manufacturing and tourism, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, reflected in its food, festivals, languages and religious traditions. Urban life is convenient and relatively affordable, while Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak provide beaches, nature and a slower lifestyle. Kuala Lumpur is the main employment hub, with modern public transport, international schools and diverse housing. Foreign professionals normally require an employment pass sponsored by their employer; the company generally handles the application, and approval depends on qualifications, salary and immigration rules. Dependants may need separate passes. Before relocating, confirm healthcare coverage, taxation, housing costs and work authorization. Malaysia is warm year-round, with heavier rainfall during monsoon periods that vary by region.
