Destination Guide

Although the United Arab Emirates is not an island, it offers a coastal lifestyle with beaches, desert landscapes and major urban centres. Job opportunities are strongest in hospitality, tourism, aviation, construction, engineering, retail, healthcare, technology and finance, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture is multicultural and generally welcoming, while Islamic customs, modest public behaviour and local laws should be respected. Lifestyle options range from modern malls, restaurants and nightlife to water sports, desert activities and cultural attractions. Employers normally arrange an employment entry permit and residence visa, with medical testing and Emirates ID registration required; requirements vary by contract and nationality. Candidates should confirm whether accommodation, transport, insurance and meals are included. Dubai has extensive public transport, but living costs can be high, especially for private housing. New arrivals should budget for deposits, documentation and initial expenses, and verify all employment terms before travelling.
