Destination Guide

Australia offers strong opportunities for chefs, cooks and hospitality professionals, particularly in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, resort areas and regional towns. Workplace culture is generally practical, team-oriented and respectful of safety, punctuality and work-life balance. Melbourne provides excellent dining, arts, sporting and cultural experiences, while living costs—especially rent—can be high. Australia is not one island but a country occupying a continent and surrounding islands. Eligible applicants may explore Working Holiday, employer-sponsored, skilled or student visa pathways; requirements vary by nationality, occupation, age and qualifications. Relocation usually requires a valid visa, passport, tax file number, bank account, accommodation and health insurance. Chefs should check skills-assessment and sponsorship rules before accepting an offer, and confirm pay, penalty rates and accommodation costs with the employer.
