Destination Guide

Ireland offers strong opportunities in banking, financial services, technology, pharmaceuticals, professional services and multinational operations, particularly in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway. The culture is generally friendly, informal and community-oriented, with English as the main workplace language. Lifestyle benefits include a compact country, scenic coastlines, historic towns, vibrant music and sports communities, and relatively easy access to Europe. Housing, especially in Dublin, can be expensive and competitive, so relocation planning is important. Citizens of the EU, EEA and Switzerland can generally live and work without an employment permit. Non-EEA nationals usually need an employment permit and, depending on nationality and stay length, an immigration registration or visa. A Critical Skills Employment Permit may be relevant for eligible specialist roles, although eligibility depends on the occupation, salary and contract. Candidates should confirm current requirements with Irish government sources before moving.
