Destination Guide

The Maldives offers hospitality opportunities in resorts, hotels, restaurants, diving centres, spas, marine activities, engineering and guest services. Resort life is usually provided on-site, with staff accommodation, meals, basic amenities and transport between islands arranged by the employer. Maldivian culture is shaped by Islam, island community traditions, seafood, music and strong respect for local customs; modest dress is expected on inhabited islands, and alcohol is generally restricted outside resorts. Lifestyle on a resort island is relaxed but work can be demanding, with long shifts and limited access to towns, shopping and nightlife. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and valid employment approval before working; the company commonly assists with visa processing, flights, accommodation and medical checks. Candidates should confirm contract terms, service charge, insurance, leave, internet access and repatriation arrangements before relocating.
