Destination Guide

Qatar is a compact Gulf country rather than an island, centered around Doha and surrounded by coastline. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, education, finance, and technology offer regular employment opportunities. The culture blends Islamic traditions with a highly international population; modest dress, respectful behavior, and awareness of prayer times and Ramadan customs are important. Life in Doha is modern and convenient, with malls, restaurants, beaches, museums, desert excursions, and strong public transport, although summers are extremely hot. Most foreign employees need an employer-sponsored work residence permit, with the company generally arranging entry, medical checks, and documentation. Confirm the package carefully, including accommodation, transport, insurance, flights, leave, and gratuity. Qatar has no personal income tax on employment salaries, but living costs can be high without employer-provided housing.
