Destination Guide

Australia offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, events, food and beverage, healthcare, construction and technology, especially in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and regional tourism centres. Australian workplace culture is generally professional, practical and relatively informal, with emphasis on punctuality, safety, teamwork and work-life balance. Brisbane provides a warm subtropical climate, outdoor activities, diverse dining and a relaxed lifestyle, although housing and transport costs should be researched carefully. Eligible applicants may use Working Holiday, employer-sponsored, skilled or student visas; requirements vary by nationality, occupation and employer, so check the Australian Department of Home Affairs website. Relocating usually involves securing a visa, tax file number, bank account, accommodation and health insurance. Overseas workers should budget for rental bonds, transport, flights and initial living expenses, and confirm whether salary figures include superannuation.
