Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but Dubai offers a coastal resort lifestyle with beaches, shopping, restaurants, nightlife and excellent transport links. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, technology and finance provide major job opportunities, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture is multicultural, while Islamic traditions influence dress, public behaviour, working practices and religious holidays. Summers are extremely hot, so indoor facilities and air-conditioned transport are central to daily life. Employers commonly sponsor work visas, arrange medical testing and provide Emirates ID processing; many hotel roles may also include accommodation, meals, transport and health insurance. Do not work on a tourist visa. Candidates should confirm contract terms, probation, benefits, working hours and accommodation before relocating. Living costs vary considerably, with housing being the largest expense if it is not provided.
