Destination Guide

Australia offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, resorts, tourism, events and regional hospitality, although competition can be high in major cities. Workplace culture is generally direct, friendly and team-oriented, with emphasis on punctuality, safety, customer service and work-life balance. Melbourne provides excellent dining, arts, sport and public transport, while living costs—especially rent—can be substantial. Employees commonly receive minimum legal entitlements, superannuation and penalty rates where applicable. Visa options may include employer-sponsored skilled visas, working holiday visas for eligible nationalities, student visas with work limits, or temporary graduate pathways. Check current requirements with the Australian Department of Home Affairs before accepting an offer. Relocation usually involves securing a visa, tax file number, bank account, accommodation and suitable health insurance. Public transport makes Melbourne relatively easy to navigate without a car.
