Destination Guide

Australia is a large island country with job opportunities in hospitality, tourism, healthcare, construction, agriculture, mining and professional services. Mackay offers a relaxed regional lifestyle, warm weather, beaches, national parks and access to the Great Barrier Reef, while employment is also influenced by nearby mining and agricultural industries. Australian workplaces are generally multicultural, practical and safety-focused, with direct communication and strong expectations around punctuality and customer service. Living costs vary, but rent, transport and groceries can be significant; Mackay is usually less expensive than Sydney or Melbourne. International workers need the correct visa, such as a Working Holiday visa, employer-sponsored visa or another eligible work visa. Check current requirements with the Australian Department of Home Affairs before travelling. Plan for flights, accommodation, tax-file registration, banking, health insurance and local transport. Relocation is easier with confirmed employment and temporary housing arranged in advance.
