Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is a modern Gulf country rather than an island, with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, technology, finance, construction, and healthcare. Dubai offers a highly international lifestyle, excellent transport, shopping, beaches, restaurants, and year-round sunshine, although summers are extremely hot and living costs can be high. Emirati culture values hospitality, family, modesty, and respect for Islamic traditions; workplaces are generally multicultural and English is widely used. Employees normally need employer-sponsored residence and work permits, and working without the correct authorisation is not permitted. Employers often arrange visa processing and may provide accommodation, meals, transport, insurance, or airfare, but this varies by contract. Before relocating, confirm salary, benefits, probation terms, accommodation, medical cover, and visa responsibilities. Bring suitable professional clothing and be prepared for a fast-paced, service-focused environment.
