Destination Guide

Australia is a large island continent with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, events, aged care, construction, healthcare and technology. Sydney offers international workplaces, beaches, cultural diversity, restaurants and a busy urban lifestyle, although rent and transport costs can be high. Australian workplace culture is generally informal, respectful, safety-conscious and focused on punctuality, teamwork and customer service. Employees usually receive minimum employment protections, superannuation and penalty rates for some evenings, weekends and public holidays. Relocation normally requires a suitable visa, such as an employer-sponsored visa, skilled visa, working holiday visa or student visa with work rights. Requirements vary by nationality, occupation and sponsorship eligibility, so applicants should check the Australian Department of Home Affairs website. Plan for accommodation, health insurance, tax registration, banking and an Australian mobile number before arrival. Sydney’s public transport makes commuting practical, while regional areas may offer seasonal tourism work and lower living costs.
