Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact international city, with Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories connected by an efficient MTR network, buses and ferries. Hospitality offers opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, retail and security, particularly for applicants with Cantonese, English or Mandarin skills. The culture blends Chinese traditions with global business influences; politeness, punctuality and high service standards are important. Lifestyle is energetic, convenient and diverse, with excellent food, hiking, beaches, shopping and nightlife, although housing is expensive and space is limited. Most overseas employees need an employment visa sponsored by the employer, and the role must normally meet immigration requirements. Security work may also require the appropriate Hong Kong security personnel licence. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, medical coverage, banking and an identity card after approval. Salaries, benefits and visa support should be confirmed directly with Shangri-La before relocating.
