Destination Guide

Taiwan offers strong opportunities in technology, semiconductors, financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, education, and international business. Taipei is the main center for banking and professional careers, while Hsinchu and Taichung are important technology and industrial hubs. Life is convenient, with excellent public transportation, reliable healthcare, affordable food, and a lively mix of modern cities, mountains, beaches, and night markets. Taiwanese culture emphasizes respect, family, hospitality, and community, while workplaces may be hierarchical but increasingly international. Mandarin is useful for daily life, although multinational employers often use English. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate resident visa; requirements vary by nationality and role. Employers commonly assist with sponsorship and relocation paperwork. Before moving, confirm tax, health insurance, housing, and employment conditions, and consider Taipei’s higher rental costs and humid climate.
