Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected destination with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, retail, technology, logistics, and creative industries. Its culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hotels. Life is fast-paced, with excellent public transport, diverse dining, shopping, hiking, beaches, and vibrant arts and nightlife. Housing can be expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in central Kowloon, so many professionals live in the New Territories or share accommodation. Overseas hires generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer and must meet immigration requirements for qualifications, experience, and salary. Dependants may usually accompany approved visa holders. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, health insurance details, banking, and an Octopus travel card soon after arrival.
