Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, retail, finance and technology. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western influences, reflected in its languages, festivals and exceptional food scene. Lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, with excellent public transport, healthcare, shopping and entertainment, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and current Ministry of Manpower criteria. Employers normally manage the application, while candidates should prepare verified qualifications and travel documents. New arrivals often begin in shared accommodation or staff housing where available. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. Learning basic local etiquette, budgeting carefully and using public transport will make relocation easier.
