Destination Guide

The UAE is not an island, but a federation of seven emirates offering extensive opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology, healthcare and construction. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the main employment centres, with international workplaces and tax-free personal income in most cases. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a highly cosmopolitan lifestyle; modest dress and respectful behaviour are appreciated, especially during Ramadan. Residents enjoy beaches, shopping, restaurants, desert activities and excellent transport, although summer temperatures are very high. Employers normally sponsor work visas, residence permits, medical checks and Emirates ID applications after an offer is accepted. Candidates should confirm accommodation, insurance, flights, gratuity, probation terms and visa sponsorship before relocating. Housing costs can be significant, particularly in Dubai.
