Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, events and corporate sales, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other coastal destinations. Island life can be relaxed and community-oriented, with easy access to beaches, diving, hiking, night markets and diverse Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisine. Penang is known for heritage and food, Langkawi for beaches and resorts, while Sabah and Sarawak offer rich nature and cultural experiences. Living costs vary; island locations may be more expensive for imported goods but can provide a slower lifestyle. English is widely used in hospitality, although Malay is the national language and learning basic phrases is useful. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval handled through Malaysian immigration authorities. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, tax treatment and relocation support before accepting an offer. Transport and healthcare access may be more limited on smaller islands.
