The Events Coordinator supports the planning and delivery of meetings, conferences, weddings and other hotel events. Requirements typically include a diploma or degree in hospitality, events, business or a related field, along with experience in hotel events, banqueting or customer service. The group is recognised for personalised service, elegant properties and its long-standing hospitality philosophy, often expressed through the Shangri-La spirit of warm, sincere care. Its Hong Kong hotels serve business travellers, leisure guests, weddings, conferences and major corporate events. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment with structured service standards, training opportunities and exposure to luxury hotel operations. Exact benefits and salary depend on experience, qualifications and the specific Shangri-La property hiring for the position.

Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, events, tourism, finance, retail, technology and international business. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, Chinese festivals and food with a highly international outlook. Life is fast-paced, safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense city neighbourhoods, hiking trails, beaches and extensive dining options. Housing is expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in central Kowloon, so many employees share flats or live in areas such as the New Territories for better value. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, while dependants may qualify for accompanying visas. Applicants normally need a confirmed job, suitable qualifications or experience and a valid passport; immigration approval is required before starting work. Cantonese is widely spoken, English is common in hotels and business, and Mandarin is increasingly useful. Candidates should budget carefully for rent, deposits, transport and health insurance.
