Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with many major hospitality destinations, including Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam, and the Riau Islands. Job opportunities are strongest in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, wellness, events, and food and beverage operations. Bali offers an international tourism scene, diverse dining, beaches, and an active expatriate community, while Jakarta and other cities provide broader corporate and luxury-hotel careers. Indonesian culture values hospitality, respect, family, and community; modest dress and awareness of local customs are important. Living costs vary considerably, with resort areas often more expensive than smaller cities. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate stay visa, arranged before employment begins; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, medical cover, taxes, contract terms, and relocation assistance with the employer before accepting an offer.
