Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact city-state and island with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, logistics, finance, technology, healthcare, and retail. Hotel jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, the airport, and the central business district. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. Singapore offers excellent public transport, reliable services, modern shopping centres, diverse food, and a generally safe urban lifestyle, although accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Employees commonly live in shared apartments or rooms to manage costs. Foreign workers must obtain the correct work authorisation before starting employment; the employer generally applies for the relevant pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass, or Work Permit, depending on salary, qualifications, and eligibility. Candidates should confirm the contract, accommodation, medical requirements, deductions, and pass type with Shangri-La before relocating.
