Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, aviation, finance, technology and healthcare. English is widely used at work, while Malay, Mandarin and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly and safety-conscious, with excellent public transport, reliable services and a wide range of food and entertainment. Living costs can be high, especially for accommodation, although wages and transport infrastructure are generally strong. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation; approval is handled by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Candidates should secure a written offer, confirm housing and benefits, and check medical, passport and pass requirements before relocating.
