Destination Guide

The Philippines offers hospitality opportunities across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, particularly in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan and other resort destinations. Hotels and restaurants regularly recruit chefs, service staff, housekeeping employees, supervisors and managers, although competition can be strong in popular islands. Filipino culture is welcoming, family-oriented and community-minded, with English widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, with affordable local food, beaches and outdoor activities. Living costs are generally lower outside Manila, but island housing and transport can become expensive during peak tourism seasons. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work visa or permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Applicants should confirm requirements with the employer and the Bureau of Immigration. Relocation planning should include accommodation, healthcare, insurance, banking, transport and emergency contacts.
