Shangri-La Group is a major luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and Africa. The group is recognised for Asian-inspired service, premium accommodation, destination resorts, restaurants, wellness facilities and strong guest-focused standards. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates several well-known properties, including urban hotels and beach resorts such as Shangri-La Rasa Ria in Kota Kinabalu and Shangri-La Golden Sands in Penang. Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, sales, marine activities, wellness and resort management, particularly in Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and the east coast. Local culture combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with respectful dress and etiquette appreciated outside resort areas. Island living is generally relaxed and outdoor-oriented, featuring beaches, diving, food markets and nature, although transport, healthcare and schooling can be more limited than in Kuala Lumpur. Langkawi, Penang and Sabah provide established expatriate communities, while costs vary considerably by island. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the hiring company must meet Malaysian immigration requirements before work begins. Candidates should confirm the approved work location, accommodation, medical coverage, tax treatment and relocation assistance. Malaysia is warm and humid year-round, with monsoon conditions varying by coast, so travel and housing plans should account for seasonal weather.
