Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, aviation, retail and corporate services, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Its island destinations combine beaches, rainforest, diving, seafood and a relaxed lifestyle, while larger cities provide better transport, healthcare and career networks. Malaysian culture is multicultural, shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous communities, with festivals, diverse food and generally welcoming social customs. Living costs are moderate compared with many international destinations, although accommodation in prime areas can be expensive. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass before starting work; the employer usually manages the application, and requirements depend on salary, qualifications and nationality. Relocating staff should arrange certified documents, medical checks, accommodation and local banking. Langkawi and Penang suit island-oriented lifestyles, while Kuala Lumpur offers the widest professional opportunities and international connections.
