Company Info

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a major luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and related properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group is known for personalised service, distinctive hospitality and its Asian heritage. Its Malaysian portfolio includes luxury city hotels and resort properties, with teams working across guest services, food and beverage, wellness, events and corporate functions. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on employee development, service culture, teamwork and operational standards. Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology and professional services. Popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Perhentian and parts of Sabah and Sarawak, while Kuala Lumpur and major mainland cities provide broader career options. Life on the islands is generally relaxed, outdoors-oriented and community-focused, with beaches, diving, hiking and water sports alongside multicultural Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions. English is widely used in hospitality, although learning basic Malay is helpful. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and approval must be secured before starting work; requirements depend on salary, qualifications and nationality. Relocating involves arranging accommodation, transport, health insurance, banking and tax registration. Island living can be quieter and more seasonal than city life, with fewer shopping and healthcare choices, so candidates should confirm housing, benefits, transport and contract terms with the employer.
