Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in investment banking, asset management, quantitative trading, fintech, professional services, technology and regional headquarters roles. The city combines Cantonese and international influences, with English widely used in business. Life is fast-paced, highly connected and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse restaurants, shopping, hiking trails and beaches. Housing is expensive, particularly near Central and major business districts, although neighborhoods such as Kowloon, the New Territories and outlying islands can offer more space. Eligible professionals usually need an employment visa sponsored by their employer; the General Employment Policy is the common route, while the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme may suit some applicants without a job offer. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, banking, healthcare coverage and tax advice. Hong Kong’s dense urban environment, humid summers and compact travel network make it attractive for ambitious finance professionals seeking regional exposure.
