Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact international city and major gateway to mainland China and the wider APAC region. Strong job opportunities exist in banking, finance, fintech, technology, professional services, trade, logistics and hospitality, with Central, Admiralty, Kowloon and emerging business districts hosting many employers. The culture blends Cantonese and international influences; workplaces are generally fast-paced, professional and multicultural. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighborhoods and excellent restaurants to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Housing is expensive, and many newcomers begin by renting near an MTR station. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, while dependants may qualify for dependant visas. Employers often assist with sponsorship, but applicants should confirm eligibility, documentation and relocation support before accepting an offer. Public transport is efficient, and English is widely used in business.
