Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in private banking, investment banking, asset management, fintech, technology, professional services, and regional corporate functions. Its international workforce, efficient transport, deep financial markets, and proximity to mainland China and Southeast Asia make it attractive for experienced professionals. Life is fast-paced and urban, with excellent restaurants, shopping, healthcare, schools, hiking trails, beaches, and compact neighborhoods connected by the MTR. Housing is expensive, especially on Hong Kong Island and in popular Kowloon districts; New Territories areas can offer more space and lower rents. Eligible professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, usually under the General Employment Policy, with proof of qualifications, a genuine job offer, and market-level pay. Dependants may apply for visas, and spouses can generally work. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, banking, insurance, tax registration, and schooling if relocating with family.
