Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in investment banking, asset management, fintech, insurance, professional services, technology, retail and logistics. The culture blends Cantonese and broader Chinese traditions with international business practices; English is widely used in professional settings, while Cantonese is valuable for daily life and client work. Lifestyle is energetic, highly connected and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse restaurants, hiking trails, beaches and a dense urban centre. Hong Kong is a territory rather than a single island, comprising Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. Overseas professionals normally require an employment visa sponsored by an eligible employer, with applications supported by qualifications, experience and a confirmed job offer. Employers often assist with documentation and relocation. Housing is expensive, so newcomers should budget carefully and consider areas connected to their workplace by the MTR.
