The Manager – Human Resources (Compensation & Benefits) is expected to manage salary structures, benefits programmes, payroll coordination, employee data, and compliance with UAE labour regulations and Shangri-La policies. Candidates should have a degree in human resources, business, finance, or a related discipline, together with several years of experience in compensation and benefits, preferably within luxury hotels or an international organisation. Strong knowledge of UAE employment practices, HR systems, data analysis, budgeting, and market benchmarking is important. The successful candidate should be discreet, analytical, commercially aware, and able to communicate clearly with employees and senior leaders. Experience managing confidential information and supporting annual salary reviews is also likely to be required.
Shangri-La is a global luxury hospitality group founded in Asia and recognised for its warm Asian-inspired service, elegant hotels and resorts, and strong emphasis on guest experience. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets under the Shangri-La, Traders, JEN and related brands. Its UAE operations serve business and leisure travellers through premium hotels, restaurants, banqueting facilities, wellness services and conference venues. Shangri-La generally promotes professional development, service excellence, cultural awareness and teamwork. Human Resources leaders support the employee experience behind these operations, ensuring competitive rewards, fair policies, legal compliance and effective talent management. The organisation is suited to candidates who enjoy a multinational environment, high service standards and the pace of luxury hospitality.
The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven emirates rather than a single island, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the broadest employment opportunities. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, healthcare, technology and construction are major sectors, while luxury hotels regularly recruit international HR and operations professionals. Life is modern, convenient and generally safe, with excellent shopping, dining, beaches and transport links. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a highly international population; modest dress and respect for local customs are important, especially during Ramadan. Most overseas employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas, usually arranged after accepting an offer and completing medical checks and Emirates ID procedures. Relocation packages may include accommodation or an allowance, health insurance, flights and transport. Costs vary considerably, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi typically the most expensive locations. Summers are extremely hot, so indoor activities and air-conditioned facilities dominate daily life.
