Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, retail, technology and finance. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in festivals, languages and an outstanding food scene. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare and many shopping, dining and recreation options. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, so shared accommodation or locations near MRT stations may be practical. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on nationality, qualifications, salary and the role, with the Employment Pass and S Pass commonly used for skilled positions. Employers normally guide successful applicants through the application process. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, deposits, medical checks and everyday expenses before relocating.
