Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state known for safety, excellent public transport, clean neighbourhoods, and a multicultural population. Job opportunities are strongest in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, logistics, finance, technology, healthcare, and retail. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also common. Life is convenient but relatively expensive, especially rent; many newcomers share accommodation or live outside the central areas. The climate is hot, humid, and tropical throughout the year, with frequent rain. Popular leisure options include hawker centres, parks, beaches on Sentosa, cultural districts, and shopping areas. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass, or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary, occupation, and quotas. Confirm current requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower before relocating.
